Whoooah! Piles of stuff going on here since the Super 12 Grand Final - but what a game it was :) The Brumbies beat the Crusaders 47-38 in a high scoring, fast paced game. The final was a victory for a number of Brumbies - David Nucifora, the now unemployed coach, Joe Roff who is heading over to the UK, and David Giffin and Mark Bartholomeusz who made their last Super 12 appearances. I really like the Crusaders, but even I couldn't resist a smug grin at the stunned looks on their faces :)) Nice going Brumbies!!
Awesome news as well to see Chris Latham take out the Super 12 player of the series award for the third time. Well deserved! I still don't know why Eddie Jones left him sitting on the bench last year.. I can't let it go can I? :)
What else has been happening... some of the Reds signed my Under 11s match ball for luck. So far it hasn't had that much effect, but hey who knows. My boys were impressed at least :) The guys were down at our local club for the opening of the State school boy championships, a four day rugby carnival fest. Northern region were the eventual winners by one point over Met West, who in turn had defeated Gold Coast region by a point in the semis the previous day. Some excellent rugby was played, and what a fine young group of men who number 210 in all. Congratulations boys!
Good to see some new young faces as well in the Wallaby squad with Clyde Rathbone, Mark Gerrard, Radike Samo, Nic Henderson and Mark Chisholm all being selected. Young blood augurs well for RWC 2007!
Hope you didn't miss this news either: Barbarians (32) victorious over England (12) at Twickenham last weekend. Yeeha!!
Last but not least, poor Reuben Thorne! First he gets displaced by Umaga as All Blacks captain, now he's been dumped from the squad. Talk about a double whammy!
Time to do some work - cheers!
