Well it's that time of the week again - comes round quick doesn't it? It's one of those weeks where tipping decisions are difficult. But - I may as well put the mockers on the following teams for Super 12 Round 6:

Hurricanes over the Blues in Wellington (dodgy tip!)
Waratahs over the Chiefs in Hamilton (optimistic tip!)
Crusaders over the Highlanders in Christchurch (a local derby that could go either way!)
Bulls over the Stormers in Cape Town (same as above)
and the Brumbies over the Reds in Canberra (Hard to beat the Brumbies at home and they'll be wanting to put on a big show to make up for recent poor form)

So there you go! Should be some good rugby played this weekend.

One more thing to mention - if you looked at your foxtel program book you'll notice that the rugby isn't live on Saturday afternoon :/ But do not despair! Fox is bunging the games on Main Event for nicks...
So flick the remote over to Main Event for the Chiefs/Waratahs game and Crusaders/Highlanders game! The other games are on Sports 1 and Sports 2 respectively.

Enjoy Round 6 everyone!

The Bulls have fired their announcer who called the Waratahs 'sheep rooters' and other insulting names during the game last Friday. I should think that giving him the boot was entirely appropriate!

Mat Rogers is out for the rest of the season - surgeons put a screw in his ankle yesterday. Let's hope he takes it easy. The Waratahs will be devastated.

An interesting story over at foxsports. The Romanian rugby team claim to have been doped while in Russia to play a game. That's not flash!

Stirling Mortlock - Brumbie extraordinaire and Captain, will have to face a Super 12 Tribunal this week. He's been cited by the Stormers after their number 10 Chris Roussow coped a broken nose in their game last weekend. The Stormers apparently allege that Mortlock went high.

What's the go with the ground announcer in SA who gave the Tahs a hard time during their game with the Bulls? Apparently the guy was sitting behind his microphone making insulting comments. Boo Hiss to him!

Mat Rogers is still suffering with his ankle injury, no doubt adding to the woes of the Waratahs. The Tahs have had a big team meeting to try and figure out what went wrong over in South Africa. Let it go guys and get on with it :)

You can find the updated points table here. Update to date as of end Round 5 (March 21 2004)

Cheers!

On Saturday afternoon in Dunedin the Highlanders got up over the Cats 29-17 scoring 4 tries and picking up a bonus point in the process. That's more like it!

The Canterbury Crusaders finally got their act together Saturday afternoon as well winning 26-15 at Waikato Stadium. Chiefs 15 Crusaders 36. At half time the Crusaders were down by 4 points, but came back to score 25 points in the second half and picking up a bonus point with the 4th try of the match scored by Aaron Mauger. Mauger had a good game, also scoring the first try for the Crusaders. Don't write off the Crusaders just yet people.

The Brumbies got up over the Stormers in Cape Town 33-15 - Yay! I should not have doubted them :) The win takes the Brumbies to the top of the Super 12 ladder - double Yay! Brumbie and Wallaby super flanker George Smith became the youngest Australian player in Super 12 history to make 50 appearances, and he's still just a youngster :)

As for my tipping 3/5 for Round 5, I'm improving :)

Six nations news - do we really care? The poms got up over Wales at Twickenham 31-21. The Irish got up over Italy 19-3 which means that they'll have to rack up a cricket score when they face Scotland this Saturday if they are to have any chance of winning the cup ahead of England or France. France is unbeaten as yet in the comp.
